Description:
Soudal Sealant Remover is a professional-grade, hydrocarbon-based solvent designed to make the toughest part of any renovation easy: removing old, cured material. Unlike standard scrapers that can leave behind a stubborn film, this fast-acting spray chemically breaks the bond of cured silicone, MS Polymers, and SMX polymers. It effectively dissolves residues, leaving your tiles, glass, and metal surfaces smooth and perfectly prepared for a fresh application.
As a vital part of our technical aerosols range, this remover is engineered to save you hours of tedious scraping off old sealant. Its non-drip formula ensures the solvent stays exactly where you need it, making it the ideal partner for the Soudal Multi Tool when refreshing bathroom joints or kitchen splashbacks.
Why Choose Soudal Sealant Remover?
The secret to a leak-free seal is 100% contact with the substrate. If even a microscopic layer of old silicone remains, your new sealant will eventually peel away.
-
High-Quality Hydrocarbon Formula: Specifically formulated to penetrate and soften cured silicone and MS polymers, turning stubborn rubber into a gel-like consistency that is easy to wipe away.
-
Precision Non-Drip Action: The gel-based spray clings to vertical surfaces, allowing the active ingredients more time to work on the sealant bond without running down the wall or pooling on the floor.
-
Surface Preparation Specialist: It doesn’t just remove the bulk of the material; it eliminates the invisible “greasy” residue that causes new sealants to fail.
-
Safe on Trade Materials: While powerful against sealants, it is designed for use on a wide variety of common surfaces, including glass, metal, and most plastics used in New Zealand construction.

FAQs
How long should I leave the remover on the sealant?
For the best results, spray Soudal Sealant Remover onto the residue and let it sit for at least 10–15 minutes. This gives the hydrocarbons time to penetrate the cured polymer. For very thick layers, you may need to apply a second coat after wiping away the first softened layer.
Will this remove hardened polyurethane (PU) foam?
This specific formula is optimised for silicones and MS/SMX polymers. For removing expanding foam, we recommend using the Soudal Expanding Foam Cleaner while the foam is wet, or if the foam is fully cured use Soudal Expanding Foam Remover mechanical removal.
Is it safe for use on acrylic bathtubs?
While safe for most metals and glass, this is a powerful solvent. We always recommend testing a small, hidden area of plastic or acrylic fixtures before full application to ensure it doesn’t dull the finish.
What is the best way to clean the surface after using the remover?
After the old sealant is gone, wipe the area down with a clean cloth. For a perfect, residue-free finish before applying new sealant, we recommend a final wipe with Soudal Cleaner & Degreaser to ensure all traces of the solvent are removed.
