Soudal Gorilla products playing their part in iconic Christchurch rebuild
Soudal Business Development Manager for the southern region, Gary Wooddin offers an insight into the part played by Gorilla MS in the monster renovation of the rather iconic Christchurch YMCA site on Hereford Street.
It was way back in 1862 when the YMCA began serving the good folk of Christchurch through a range of education and leadership programmes all run out of buildings that were then fit for purpose, but then with the passing of time, became somewhat dated in terms of what they had to offer.
Jump forward to 2021/22 and with the assistance of funding via the government’s ‘shovel ready’ programme a fantastic new build and refurb is taking place in central Christchurch aimed at delivering a set of stunning spaces for the community to use and enjoy, including a black-box theatre, a licensed preschool, a health and fitness centre and a dedicated youth space.
The demanding functional requirements for the build are echoed in the look, feel and design aesthetic. No compromise was to be made on quality build materials.
Step up, Gorilla MS Sealant, Gorilla Expanding Foam and Gorilla H-Packers ensuring window and door installation and seals throughout the new build were hitting all the critical benchmarks required for air, water and noise.
