For the best results and to help prevent excessive shrinkage, joints should be a maximum of 10mm wide and 10mm deep. For deeper gaps, we recommend using a PE backing rod to control the depth and avoid three-point adhesion, which can cause the filler to tear.

Pro Gaps Fill & Paint delivers an ultra-smooth finish that is important for a great paint job. It’s superior flexibility gives high crack resistance. It is paintable after 20 mins and water resistant once cured, does not stain and is almost odour-free. Excellent adhesion to porous substrates without primer.

Suitable for joints and small gaps where movement occurs, such as between wooden or metal window frames and concrete or brickwork. Joints between stairs and walls, concrete and ceiling elements, walls and ceilings, skirting boards, windowsills, doorframes and aerated concrete. Excellent adhesion to painted wood, anodized aluminium and PVC.

How long should I wait before painting over Pro Gaps Fill & Paint?

You can typically apply water-based paints after 20 minutes at room temperature ($20°C$). For flat or ceiling paints, or in cooler/humid conditions, it is best to wait slightly longer (up to 1 hour) to ensure the sealant has formed a stable skin and won’t “craze” the paint.

Can this gap filler be used on exterior weatherboards?

Yes, Pro Gaps Fill & Paint is suitable for exterior use. It is UV resistant and waterproof once fully cured. However, for high-exposure areas or joints with significant expansion and contraction, we recommend ensuring the joint is painted to provide a protective barrier against the elements.

Why is "high solids" important for a gap filler?

A high solids content means there is less water and more active ingredient in the tube. This results in lower shrinkage as the product dries. Is it safe to use Pro Gaps Fill & Paint on natural stone?

We do not recommend using standard acrylic gap fillers on highly porous natural stone like marble or granite, as the moisture can lead to staining. For these specific materials, we recommend using a non-staining hybrid polymer sealant like FixALL Flexi Flexible Sealant Adhesive
