FMG Waikato Stadium
Soudal product touching down in Waikato’s iconic FMG Stadium

Soudal Technical Development Manager, Steve Loveridge offers an insight into the part Soudal Soudaseal 240FC Adhesive played in the refurbishment of the public restrooms at the iconic FMG Stadium Waikato (home to Chiefs and Waikato NPC rugby teams), in the heart of the Waikato. This reburishment included the restroom walls, showers and cubicals.

We are a rugby-loving nation, making our local stadiums precious to our communities. They hold memories of past wins, and some losses we would frankly rather forget. Recently, Resco undertook a project to provide a refit solution to the public restrooms for the WEL Network Stand at FMG Stadium. The refit included the use of Multicom wall linings, Storm cubicles and bespoke use of Resco Compact Laminate for vanities, and men’s area modesty screens. Resco was the perfect choice for this project, following the successful refit they did at Eden Park prior to the 2011 Rugby World Cup.

One of the features of the Multicom wall system (BRANZ Appraisal#869) is the use of Soudal Soudaseal 240FC Adhesive, which provides a long-term durable fixing process that requires no additional bracing or mechanical support structure while the adhesive cures. This enables the installers to continue with the installation without the need to work around any supporting structures.

Soudal Soudaseal 240FC Adhesive allowed the Multicom wall linings to be installed over a variety of surface structures including concrete block and timber-framed walls. Even tight, confined spaces were not an issue, with a custom cut solution provided by Resco utilising the same adhesive fixing solution that required no bracing.

To future-proof the WEL Network stand and accommodate for the extremely high public use, Resco Compact Laminates was a good choice. Its surface has both an anti-graffiti formulation and “Antibac”, an innovative bacteria-repelling compound that kills 99% of bacteria within two hours of contact for the lifetime of the panel.
